Here's the background story :
Girl walks into the Printemps department store, back in february 2012, stops by the Céline corner,
spots bag, her eyes fill up with stars,
holds up the bag, checks it inside and out,
plays model with it in front of mirrors as if a visual confirmation was necessary to assert the bag's gorgeousness,
at this point, girl is in love, raves about the sleek and casual elegance of the bag, how practical and cool it is,
girl checks the price tag,
the girl's heart sinks as she realizes that (legally) leaving the store with the bag will not be possible. Ever.
The girl comes back several times, checks the internet for more information about it, bag sells out and is not reissued, life goes on.
Still, the bag remains in the corner of the girl's mind.
10 months later, girl spots THE bag, second hand yet in perfect condition, at an affordable fraction of its original price and just when she got her end of the year bonus.
Girl gets herself a Christmas gift and to this day, the bag is very often part of her daily outfits.
Not the end of the girl's story with the Céline duffle for sure.
cardigan, jeans: h&m - blouse: Zara - bag: Céline asymmetrical bag
So pleased for you - I wish I had happy endings like that!
RépondreSupprimerLovely bag, lovely story.
Thanks! That happy ending only made me think and act on cooling down my shopping habits.
SupprimerGreat story - love this entire outfit! I've got a new-found appreciation for the duffel bag, mostly because of the Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton one. I love Saint Laurent's version as well, it is very similar to your Celine.
RépondreSupprimerThanks!
SupprimerThe SC/LV put the duffel back on the map for me too and I guess made other brands jump the wagon considering its never fading popularity! It's been what 3-4 years since the SC was launched? And it seems like it's becoming a classic.
Haha, wonderful story, don't you love when that happens? PS: I very much like the leopard print shirt you're wearing :)
RépondreSupprimerYes! Usually planets are never aligned correctly: I want "x" item but funding is not enough or the other way around!
SupprimerOoh good story! :)
RépondreSupprimerThanks! Glad you liked it!
SupprimerAhhh, I love a happy ending. And yes, I'm insanely jealous as I've loved that bag forever. But it's nice to hear that someone with good taste has one!
RépondreSupprimerOh thanks!! I hope you'll luck out.
SupprimerOMG Aissa, it's so beautiful!! Congrats, sometimes dreams come true. If you ever see anptherone, second hand, please let me know asap!
RépondreSupprimerThanks so much Sara! I will keep en eye out for you!
SupprimerIt's funny, just the other day I saw a black Tom bag by JD and thought about you but remembered that you had already found one. It's such a great bag and would have gotten it myself but I was broke...
Right!? Feels good for me of (usually) little faith!
RépondreSupprimerI kind of keep hoping for that to happen - the way women consume luxury bags these days, I actually think my chances are quite good! The resale market is booming, haha.
RépondreSupprimerCongrats on such a gorgeous buy..it's the perfect low-key chic.
I agree, the cycle of consuming luxury is faster (for some) and that's why I keep checking my favorite second-hand spots when I have something in mind.
SupprimerThere are good chances to find very recent treasures, maybe not the up and trendy it-thing but an item that one has time to process and determine its worth on a more personal level.
I hope you'll find the one you're looking for, it's the Trio isn't it?!
oh what a lovely story! congrats, so glad you found your Celine bag after all. and second hand luxury shops are so great for finding newish and vintage gems.
RépondreSupprimerlove your leopard blouse too - just the perfect counterpoint to your dream bag :)
Thank you! I know some people have reservations about second-hand shopping but there are gems to be found!
SupprimerWow, what a great lesson in trusting that what you want will eventually find you. Difficult isn't it, the lesson of delayed gratification? I am curious: did the SA at Céline share why the bag was designed asymmetrically? I am always interested in the reasons behind unique details. Usually the reasons are such a delight! The bag looks like it will be a beautiful addition to your wardrobe.
RépondreSupprimer-Missone
No, the SA were too busy with actual buyers! Haha! But the concept of the asymmetrical bag is brilliant in its practicality. Compared to the other "classic" duffle with an opening on top, access inside the bag is much easier.
SupprimerSince we're in some kind of spring, I've been wearing it quite frequently indeed.
Lovely. You can really see how luxe the leather is. I'm such a sucker for luxe leather. Congrats on your bag!
RépondreSupprimerI've always found the sales associates at Celine (in Paris and on Madison Ave here) to be incredibly kind and helpful. They've gone out of their way for me on several occasions.
Thanks so much Lindsay! I completely agree with you regarding the SA at Céline: never was confronted to a standoffish attidude as it can be the case in even some less luxurious stores and always helpful even if you're not buying.
Supprimerthis bag is amazing, congratulations! i've been looking for it for years. where did you buy it second-hand? :)
RépondreSupprimerThanks! Got the bag from Vestiaire Collective.
SupprimerDo you mind me asking how much it cost you second-hand? Thanks so much, it looks absolutely fantastic on you!
SupprimerDo you mind me asking how much it cost you second-hand? Thanks so much, it looks absolutely fantastic on you!
SupprimerIt was still pretty expensive around 700 euros if I remember correctly.
