In projects

Being a pragmatist in practice means that because of the reluctant summer weather, I've invested and limited my sales purchases to an APC striped knit (very basic and great for so-so temperatures) and an Isabel Marant Etoile flight/jumpsuit (very badass and great for so-so temperatures). That's it. And can you guess the underlying theme/factor of my purchases?  Well, my closet and drawers are already full of clothes, shoes I love and barely have time and opportunity to wear during this short weather -non-existent at times- recess aka summer.

So instead, I'm focusing on three prospects that keep me going on :

The renovation of my living room. My flat is a mess right now and I'm chanting the universal construction work mantra "it gets worse before it gets better" over and over in my head. As a result, I'm fueled with interior design ideas and spend my week-ends material and furniture shopping.

Here I am, back from Sunday morning wallpaper shopping. No I wasn't grumpy just glaring because of that astonishingly rare bright summer sunlight.
Sorry for the crappy pic but just when the pic was taken a bunch of people arrived at the bus stop and being the shy girl that I am, posing for another shot in front of an audience was out of question. Even if said pic is to be posted on a blog, over the internet... Go figure.

Somehow though in the midst of my obession for decor makeovers, I'm having a harder time shelling out the amount of money I'd put for a coat into a new sofa... Again, go figure...

Speaking of which, next fall winter season fashion is already on my mind. Because if there's one certainty I've learned these past years and not only thanks to GoT is that winter is (always) coming. So, I've already shared a changing room pic of the Clover coat from Isabel Marant  Etoile on instagram and suffice to say that it's seared in my brain. I love it. I want it. The end.

Holidays: I have a week off at the end of July which is great but I'm craving for some sun, like 99,9 % of the European gen pop which will be (tightly) gathered along the southern side of the continent to soak it up, alas crowds and I don't work. At all. So any advice for some leisurely (european) getaway is welcomed.

Any projects ahead dear readers? Summer plans in motion?

  1. I decided to renew my lease instead of moving to a bigger apartment because I didn't really have time to look for one, so to console myself I decided to redecorate instead. I'm saving up for a new sofa, I've already bookmarked some tables in case they go on sale. Every time I see something really nice the price is outrageous! I'm afraid to add up all the prices but I'm giving myself time until Christmas, that way I won't go crazy with a big bill all in one go. Also trying to stay away from eBay/yoox for now!

I bought two pairs of shoes and some stuff from the men's section of Barneys (why are men's clothes so much cheaper than women's? It's even more fabric!) which I'm really happy about. Hopefully I can cut down on shopping for the rest of summer.

Coats are your weakness, huh? But a good coat can elevate any outfit so I can't blame you.

    1. That's great to bring some changes to your home. It's really lifting up the spirit to undertake projects others than the same old routine and to make the eye travel even in our everyday habitat.
I'm trying to mix up "high" and "low" and to shop sales but the impact of furniture shopping is harder on the wallet and I also feel a lot more pressure to avoid the "style" mistake... It's so much harder to return a sofa not working with your living room!

Congrats on your purchases! I also buy a few things from the men section too but mainly accessories, like scarves less girly (obviously, duh!) and knits (really love COS for that).

Ha! I'm smoked out! I can't seem to stop wanting outerwear... and I haven't even shared what I got pre-sales...

  2. haha i'm the same way - i can rationalize a splurge on a handbag or pair of gorgeous shoes, but on a sofa, mmm...

i've picked up a few gems from the sales here, which have been suddenly quite good. also, i'm coming to Paris for a few days in August - what is your email so i can pick your brian about your city? :) if you'll be around, i'd love to meet up for a coffee or a glass of wine!

  3. Oh the coat with your stripes underneath are already desireable. So the funny thing is I cannot shell out the dough for my new apartment living room either. I keep saying its so important to finally decorate properly, but rather buy seconhand and have money left over for Celine or Isabel ;)

    1. Thanks! At the risk of sounding completely vain, I thought the same thing while trying it on! :)) I thought "hmm great outfit, I could almost leave the store with the coat over my dress!" Haha!
Regarding interior shopping, I'm trying hard to focus on the goal of having a welcoming home and to rationalize but the other temptations are still outthere!

  4. Haha, I know exactly what you're saying! We're having a huge home project for the summer, moving the kitchen (or actually building a new kitchen with new appliances and cabinets)) to the living room and changing the old kitchen into our new bedroom. It's going to be such a nigtmare, and I can't even think how many coats it will cost. Many!! I'm completely obsessed with the IM shearling Boyce coat that I know that you love as well. It'll be way too expensive, but I'm trying to save up for it, which means that I can't buy anything else for about 6 months. That's a new for me. If you see it in paris, could you please send me a review? I hope you'll hate it:).

    1. Wow, congrats on the renovation project and good luck!! That's such an ambitious makeover, mine feels like a piece of cake! But it's so incredibly exciting to create anew and see your old home with fresh eyes!

Oh the shearling coat... It'd be perfect for those cold winters huh? And yet, yes, I hope I'll be as disappointed with it as with last season's David! The IM stores only have a handful of new things right now, mostly Etoile like the fur coat (already!) but I'll ask around for more info and of course review it if I can.

  5. A sofa just doesn't give you the same feel good factor does it? Totally get it and you must totally get the coat - you look fabulous in it. Enough to have me looking it up on NAP.

    1. Well, being completely anaemic at the moment gives me another perspective as I'm turning into a couch potatoe and the appeal of a new sofa to crawl into sounds quite good actually! :))
Thanks about the coat! You're such an enabler, as if I needed more convincing! Hehe! You'll get me in trouble!

  6. I use the excuse that the cat will tear my sofa so best just buy new covers instead.

    Solution! x
