Saturday and Sunday

Saturday

This is what I wore  after the morning workout for afternoon errands.

The Ritchi knit by Isabel Marant Etoile has been on my wish-list since the moment I tried it on at Le Bon Marché, foolishly decided "I was not sure about it" and put it back on the rack. That was about 2 years ago. Of course by the time I changed my mind, a matter of days later, it was sold-out.

I had gotten the Camaieu knit as a substitute but couldn't shake off the original from my mind. I'm really happy that patience paid off, thanks to eBay and not for an obscenely overcharged price.

It's so lovely with its mix of blue, white and red yarn, I couldn't wait to wear it.
After hand-washing it, waiting for it to dry -I must confess to raising up the bathroom's temperature heater to speed up the process- that's how much I was eager to wear it!

Isn't it funny how a piece of cloth can create such pleasure and excitement?

Sunday

The look for a late morning stop by Marks & Spencer, then a japanese lunch followed by a grab-as-much-sun-as-we-can walk around town and burn off a few calories before the traditional sunday goûter (afternoon snack) of tarte normande (norman apple pie) and jasmine tea while catching up with Mad Men.

The temperature droped a lot compared to last week-end (bare legs and a simple cardigan as cover-up are not an option unless planning to catch a cold!) but it's ideal for wool jackets, a bit of layering and ballet flats.

I hope you all had a nice week-end!

  1. Totally chic and comfy outfits, Aissa. I know what you mean about making do with a 2nd best item to your first love. The Ritchi remained one of the nicest sweaters Isabel Marant has ever designed. I've been eyeing the Rick Owens jackets for the longest time. I couldn't justify the hefty price tag so I bought the All Saints version instead. It just didn't fit right.

    1. Thank you!
I'm sure the RO is worth every penny and you will keep it for a long time.
Second bests tend to remind me of how much better my first choice is! It often turns out to be quite counterproductive in the end.

  2. Effortless and you look gorgeous in both of these looks. Isn't it lovely that you managed to get your hearts desire in the end and that it was worth it. And I didn't know Isabel Marant was doing boyfriend jeans at all (not that I can afford a pair anyway).

    1. Thanks Sue! I'm over the moon... for a sweater! :)) Wonder what it will be like when I fall in love... Haha!
Isabel Marant does (almost) everything now, even skateboards (!) but my jeans are Uniqlo, much more affordable!

  3. It's nice finding things months/years later, because then you know you really like it and it wasn't just a passing fancy. I also like that "it was meant to be!" feeling, even though it might be silly to apply it to clothing!

    1. Right!? Some items just keep creeping up in the back of my mind, sometimes several years, later that's why I love consingment, outlet shopping.
There is so much pressure to consume (faster and faster!) that making the difference between a simple crush and true love can be tricky. Yeah, not ashamed to use amorous vocab refering to clothes!

  4. I love your boyfriend jeans - are they really Uniqlo? I've been looking for a pair for ages and they're awesome. Do you like them?

    1. Yep, the jeans are Uniqlo "slim boyfriend fit cropped". I do like them a lot, the cotton is very soft and supple and the fit is spot-on, not too baggy. They will certainly be in lots of week-end outfits!

    1. Thanks! Isabel Marant really makes some great clothes even if her latest SS designs leave me a bit cold.

How's the weather up North? I thought we would be done with this freezing nonsense by the end of April... but no!

  7. oh man, that sweater is awfully beautiful. she released a similar one this season, right? Or am I imagining things? It might've been a chunkier knit but I can't seem to locate it right now.

    1. You're right! It's called the Maverick, I tried it on a few months ago but the "magic" was not there and the fit was awkward on my grown woman body I felt.
