Let's make a point

That's my latest fancy: Pointy ballet flats are nothing new but after years of wearing round flats, this shape feels fresh and somehow a bit more elegant and grown-up.

It's a bit 60's mod, a bit 90's minimal, which I guess makes it completely trendy for 2013 !

Teamed with skinny pants: that's the association I really like and wear frequently at the moment.

Yep, it's May and I'm wearing my Isabel Marant Bator coat over a striped APC sweater, not to mention the tee underneath it, without breaking a sweat... At all. No comment.

coat/manteau: Isabel Marant - jeans, scarf/écharpe, belt/ceinture: h&m - shoes/chaussures: Aldo - bag/sac: Balenciaga City

    1. Thanks so much Sophie!
I was afraid that the Aldos would kill my sensitive feet but they turn out to be really okay comfort wise and hold up well so far considering how much I walk daily... Plus they kind of fulfill my appreciation for the Dior and Valentino pointy flats! ;)

  2. Oh your little style adventure seems to be echoing my own thoughts (not to mention you look very good). I've been thinking about (re)trying pointy toe flats for about 4 months but can't bring myself to do it because I keep having flashbacks to an awfully unflattering pair I owned back in high school. Your take on them gives me new hope, lol!

    1. Hehe! Are you refering to the extra long pointy that was the rage a few years ago? When I think of them, images of Middle Ages fashion keep springing in my head! lol!
Anyway, anything that happens in highschool is subject imo to clemency pass so why don't you give it a try?

  3. Love this outfit! I always liked pointy shoes, I feel like they "elongate" the leg. We are having the same weather issues across the pond. One day I'm plugging in my heater, the very next day I turn on the air conditioning. Crazy...

    1. Koko, I agree totally about how pointy shoes elongate the leg whereas I have heard many people say they make their feet look like boats and too long. Anything which makes my legs look longer is good with me!

    2. At the risk of sounding completely vain, I kept checking my legs and couldn't help noticing the positive optical effect of the skinny teamed with pointy shoes!
As we're 3 to concur on the matter, I guess it must be a valid theory!

  4. I love this mix of high end and low. I was thinking the jeans look really good (as well as the shoes) and they're from good ol' H&M! I'm off to check out the Aldo website - I've been looking for pointy flats as well.

    1. Thanks!
I was pretty much snubbing Aldo because I found the store so visually loud but it turns out my traditional French shoestores have barely started sniffing out the pointy shoes trend so it was a surprise to find that Aldo also have some understated model of shoes.

  5. I love pointy flats! I agree that they add a bit more elegance and sophistication to an outfit, and I can slip on a pair when I'm wearing more casual clothing to up the ante just a bit.

    Love this outfit!

    1. Thanks Lucy! I really prefer flats or low heeled shoes for day wear so having one more footwear option that also brings a bit more sophistication is always welcomed!

  6. Yes, pointy toe flats with a lower vamp elongate the leg brilliantly. Although you have very long legs to begin with. Love this look.
