The season of the knit

One of the benefit of early fall lies in that state of fresh, not yet utterly cold, air with the occasional/non-committal sun rays rising up the degrees later in the day. It's what I call the season of the knit. When going out in a coat is just too much, too soon: too hot for the time being but a sweater or a cardigan is just perfect to get you through the day without getting soaked up with sweat or catching the first cold of the season.

It rarely last long but for a few weeks tops, I enjoy cuddling against a good knitted jacket or just wearing my favorite sweaters without it being hidden under outerwear.

Right now, I'm on holidays and so is my fashion sense of experiment. A knit, blue jeans and flats is the norm these days.

sweater/pull: Maje - jeans: Uniqlo - ballet flats /ballerines: Isabel Marant - bag/sac: Balenciaga

knitted jacket/veste en maille: Isabel Marant Etoile - jeans, t-shirt: h&m - ballet flats/ballerines: Lanvin

  1. Such a great way to describe the season. I hope you're enjoying your holiday! I'm craving one and am thrilled that I can make a quick getaway in 2 weeks.

    1. Thanks. I really needed that time off with extra R&R!

  2. I love these pairings on the grounds of not only do they look good but they are achievable and not outlandish looks. I like the season of the knits ... I'm a winter rather than summer wardrobe type of gal.

    1. Thanks Sue! I think what draws me to "like" winter more than summer fashion wise is that it is inevitable and a certainty! Whereas summer is not always guaranteed, one can be sure that "winter is coming" !! :))

  3. I love your choices...you always look fabulous, however cliche that sounds! I like how you have paired the knitted jacket with a breton, and the Maje jumper is a lovely fit.

  4. I can easily relate to your outfit. I like the Maje jumper that you've got on there. I find that the weather in the South of England is rather similar to Paris. I seriously need a few more jumpers. Both Maje and Sandro seem to have pretty good ones this season.

    1. I've had a crush on that sweater since spotting it on the Paris Vogue FNO supplement. It's not a brand I usually purchase and I've been quite the harsh critic on their products regarding price/quality. But, the jumper seems to hold up so far and I have no complaints about it. In fact, I really like it!

  5. I'm certainly sure that winter is coming too, unfortunately....I love dressing for fall, but I'm not as excited about winter clothes. I remember the Etoile knit, it looks great on you!

    1. Once the end of the year celebrations are over and it's the heart of winter, getting dressed certainly gets challenging and (sometimes) a bit depressing when the weather and comfort factors are all that matters...
Thanks about the knit. I was so happy to chance upon it after all this time.

  6. i love your maje knit! really feeling a chunky knit this season in a neutral color. i think that in-between temp for me is denim jacket weather: too warm for leather jackets but in need of a not too flimsy jacket nonetheless.

oh, i found my Marant-ish sneaker wedges! they are my new obsession :)

    1. Thanks Sophie! Yes, I've seen your posts both about the denim jacket and sneakers. It's funny because reading your post made me remember of an awesome APC denim jacket worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in the 90's which looked so great.
I've been wearing the IM Betty sneakers a lot with the wet weather but the Bekket not so much. I love them but I guess, more or less consciously, as they're so so overexposed, my envy to wear them dwindles. I think I'll wear them more like last year hidden underneath classic bootcut/large trousers.
