I'm thankful for...

  • duck boots,
  • cashmere beanie, scarf and socks,
  • feather down parka,

...and most of all the common sense I demonstrated when I got all of the above.

With the average 10-20 cm of snow piled up and negative temperatures, I'm so glad I put my money on these useful practical items.

I may not use them as often as, say, fellow Scandinavians or Canadians but they do come handy at least a few weeks a year, leaving me with the ability/pleasure to walk around at ease in quiet deserted streets in a snow globe like landscape on a sunday morning... Wonderful!

down parka: Uniqlo - beanie/bonnet: Eric Bompard - scarf/écharpe: COS - slim cords/slim en velours cotelé: Gap - duck boots : Sorel

PS: As we're still in january, technically my greetings for 2013 are not out of place... so happy new year!

I'm also thankful for all the readers who keep checking up my blog and stick with me in spite of my unreliable presence.

I didn't mean to be away from the blogosphere for so long. The after-holidays often leave me kind of blue and uninspired (must be the drawback from all the sugar rush and the return to reality after days of artificial collective cheery feelings during the holidays...  Yay, I'm a cynic on occasion)...

Then, I had a few days off, realized how tired I was, cut back internet time especially in the evening to relax with a bit of yoga and keep up with The Wheel of Time books instead. As this new rythmn is proving to be quite beneficial for my health, mood and energy I decided to keep on this track even after going back to work.

A great combination for neglecting blogging.

But these past couple of days, I felt the spark coming back and I finally logged on today. I must have lots of catching up to do with my favorite blogs!

  1. I'm actually jealous of your snow! I snowboard and we've only gotten dustings of snow here on the east coast. But I agree when it comes to practical things it's a good idea to spend a bit more money if it means it will last longer, that way it will only be a once in a lifetime purchase and you don't have to worry about it.

    1. Well, you're welcome to France anytime because it doesn't seem that we'll get a respite any day soon! I saw people in the park skiing yesterday so you don't even have to go in the moutains! Haha!

  2. I felt the same way after the holidays--I struggled to get back into the work/gig routine after a couple of weeks of absolute sloth.

Enjoy the snow--it looks lovely! Your snow gear sounds very warm and cosy--way to plan ahead!

    1. Glad to know I'm not the only one struggling. Somehow, I find the snow and cold to be invigorating and the best antidote to my apathetic mood...

    1. Thanks! Canadians are kind of cousins to us so it's quite fair that we should copy your winter from time to time!

  4. All that snow would have left me totally helpless - I don't think I own anything that would keep me warm under those circumstances! It's really nice to see you blogging again, and in any case I firmly believe that blogging isn't dictated by any rhythm other than your own.

    1. Thanks for dropping by! Even if I enjoy blogging and this is a "personal" space, I always feel like I a letdown when I stop posting for a while...
Oh you know, it's my control freak self always driving me to be prepared for almost anything really. I'd rather enjoy not having to deal with "special weather" gear.

  5. Welcome back! It's always good to see a new post from you. And I agree with Lin, blogging isn't dictated by any rhythm but your own, so you shouldn't fret about that.

Oh and I love your winter gear. I wear swear by a parka like yours, L.L. Bean boots and cashmere socks in the snowy weather. Still waiting for snow in NYC.

What no snow yet in NYC? I guess we're kind of robbing you of this wintry pleasure!
