Tenue du jour: old tricks

Just like yesterday I relied on the same old style tricks to add a bit of spice in my outfit: stripes and a pop of red while the rest remain invariably black and grey. Well, what can I say? At least, I'm consistent!

The pants are the only "new" item here, my unique winter sales purchase. The material is utterly soft and the straight yet loose cut fits in my continuous search for versatile clothes (another personal constant), adapting as well for professional situations or casual moments, like today, teamed with sneakers and informal loose clothes.

coat/manteau: Comptoir des Cotonniers - scarf/écharpe: COS - cardigan: Zara - striped top/marinière: Uniqlo - pants/pantalon: Alain Manoukian - sneakers/baskets: Isabel Marant - bag/sac: Balenciaga.

  1. those trousers look so good, very difficult to find cuts like that that fit everywhere!

i'm starting to think that red is my go-to for a pop of colour as well, like my navy and red striped tee, a wine red knit, or my new brick red jeans. it's a very classic colour.

    1. Thanks. I agree red in little touches adds a "safe" edge to an outfit.
With all the neon popping up on streetstyle pics, I was tempted to stray and grab something brighter but then I remembered the pink knit I had bought from Zara and returned because it was truly too much for me. So I'll stick with classic red.

  2. I think you've managed to convince me to pull out my marinere tops again. I've always considered it my spring/summer look. I'll have to make it a point to check out the pants section at Uniqlo. I have to admit, their basics are probably the best and such good value for money.

    1. Usually I wait for mid-seasons to wear my marinières but that's the charm of end of season, I was so fed up of wearing the same clothes over and over again that I was quite happy to find it rummaging through my drawers and decided to wear it on the spot with a bit of layering.
Completely agree with you on Uniqlo. Their products are usually worth it.
